THIS ITEM IS SOLD OUT, BUT PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN SOMETHING SIMILAR! This hand forged Damascus gyuto is a very special knife to me. The blade is hand forged from reclaimed 1095 sawmill blade and 15n20 band saw blade that was used to construct homesteads in my area of East Tennessee. Heat treated to 60-61 hrc this is very tough steel. The bolester is forged from hand made Mokume gane which I forged from Nickel Silver and Copper. The handle is Black Palm wood with a water buffalo pommel held with a hidden brass dowel to provide a perfect balance. This whole knife balances perfectly just atop the bolester making it very nimble. To protect the blade I constructed a textured walnut saya, which has inlaid neodynium magnets inside to hold the piece in place, while allowing quick access. I spent over 100 hours over several months on this blade and all of it's componets. From preparing materials, making the steel, making the mokume gane, making the saya, forging the blade, heat treating, grinding, and completing this piece, every aspect was incredibly labor intensive. The cutting edge is 8" and 1.75" deep with a 5.75" handle
*Hand forged carbon steel means hand wash and dry only!
